Mobile Fuel Drain — North West

Wrong Fuel? I'll Drain It On The Spot

Petrol in a diesel, diesel in a petrol, AdBlue in the wrong tank — I come to the forecourt, drain it, flush it through and get you back on the road. 24/7 across the North West.

Mobile Fuel Drain — Forecourt, Roadside, Driveway

I'm Simon, and I deal with wrong fuel recovery across the North West every week of the year. Petrol in a diesel is the one I see most — the diesel nozzle fits straight into a petrol filler — but it works the other way round too, and AdBlue in the diesel tank is more common than you'd think.

Wherever you've realised — on the forecourt at Wigan Tesco, halfway home down the M61, or on the drive after the school run — don't start the engine. Call me on 07549 676 220 and I'll bring the kit to you, drain the tank, flush the lines and put the right fuel back in.

Petrol In Diesel, Diesel In Petrol, AdBlue Removal

I cover every kind of misfuel — here's what comes up most when people search for a mobile fuel drain near me:

  • Petrol in a diesel car — by far the most common. The diesel nozzle is narrower, so it slips into a petrol filler without you noticing. I'll drain the tank, flush the fuel lines and refuel with clean diesel.
  • Diesel in a petrol car — less common because the petrol nozzle won't fit a diesel filler, but it does happen with jerry cans and at older pumps. Drain, flush, refuel — same routine, different fuel.
  • AdBlue in the diesel tank — AdBlue goes in its own small filler, but the caps look similar and it ends up in the diesel tank more often than you'd think. I drain it before it gets near the injectors.
  • Water or contaminated fuel — condensation, dodgy fuel from a forecourt, or a knackered seal. If the car's running rough and smells off, I'll drain a sample, confirm contamination, and replace the lot.
  • Forecourt fuel drain — you've realised at the pump and you can't move the car. I come to the forecourt, deal with the staff, drain on the spot.

If the car's been driven on the wrong fuel and won't restart, my flatbed tow truck can recover the vehicle to your garage of choice as part of the same call-out.

What To Do If You've Put The Wrong Fuel In

Don't panic. Misfuelling is one of the most common driver mistakes — the AA reckons it happens to someone in the UK every three or four minutes. Here's how to give yourself the cleanest, cheapest fix:

  1. Don't start the engine. Don't even turn the key to crank it. If the engine doesn't run, the wrong fuel sits in the tank and the drain is straightforward.
  2. Tell the forecourt staff if you're on a pump. Most petrol stations have seen it before and they'll help you push the car to a safe spot.
  3. Call me on 07549 676 220 — tell me where you are, what car, and which fuel went in. I'll give you an honest ETA on the call.
  4. Sit tight. I'll be on my way. Don't try to dilute it with the right fuel and drive home — that just pushes contaminated fuel deeper into the system.

I've Already Driven On It — What Now?

Pull over as soon as it's safe and shut the engine down. You might notice the car coughing, losing power, blowing smoke, or stalling — classic symptoms of misfuelling. I'll still come out, drain the tank, flush the fuel lines and refuel — you've just given the system a bit more to clear out. If the car won't restart, I'll recover it to a garage for a fuel filter and a proper check-over.

How A Mobile Fuel Drain Works

It's less dramatic than people expect. Four steps, on the spot, no garage trip:

  1. Drain. I pop the tank, hook up the suction kit, and pull every drop of contaminated fuel out into a sealed bowser.
  2. Flush. I run a small amount of clean fuel through the lines and the filter housing to clear out the residue.
  3. Refuel. A few litres of the right fuel go back in — enough to get you to a forecourt and fill up properly.
  4. Restart & check. Engine fires up, I listen for misfires, watch for warning lights, and you drive away.

Contaminated fuel goes back to a licensed disposal site — I don't tip it down a drain and I don't dump it. Done properly, by the book.

Cars, Vans, Motorhomes, 4x4s — All Drained

I drain tanks on cars, vans, motorhomes, caravans and 4x4s — petrol, diesel, AdBlue, contaminated fuel, the lot. Common-rail diesels, GDI petrols, modern Euro 6 diesels with sensitive injection systems — I've drained all of them.

For motorhomes and bigger vans, give me a call first with the make and model and I'll confirm I've got the right kit on board. For everything else, just ring and I'll be on the way.

Wrong Fuel FAQs

The questions I get asked most when someone rings up after misfuelling. If yours isn't here, just call me.

I've put the wrong fuel in — what do I do first?

Don't start the engine. That's the single most important thing. If you've realised at the pump, leave the car there and call me. If you've already driven, pull over as soon as it's safe, switch off, and call. The engine off makes the drain quicker and the bill smaller.

Can you come to a petrol station forecourt?

Yes — forecourts, supermarket fuel stations, motorway services, anywhere. I'm fully insured, I carry ATEX-safe drainage kit, and forecourt staff are used to recovery vans on the pumps. I'll deal with the station while I drain.

How long does a mobile fuel drain take?

30 to 60 minutes once I'm with you for a clean job — drain, flush, refuel, restart, check. Longer if the car's been driven on the wrong fuel because there's more system to clear out.

What if I've driven on it already?

Pull over and stop the engine. Symptoms to watch for: loss of power, coughing, black or white smoke, stalling. I'll still come out and drain it — you've just given the system more to flush. If it won't restart, I'll recover it to a garage as part of the same call-out.

Do you handle AdBlue in the fuel tank?

Yes. AdBlue in the diesel tank is bad news for the fuel pump and injectors if you drive on it. I drain the whole tank, flush the lines, and refill with clean diesel. The earlier you spot it — before starting the engine — the cheaper and quicker the fix.

How much does it cost?

Give me a ring on 07549 676 220 and I'll quote you straight on the call. Price depends on vehicle, location and time of day. No membership, no call-out fee on top — one price, agreed up front.

Where do you cover?

The whole North West. Wigan, Bolton, Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, St Helens, Preston, Blackpool, Chester, Stockport, Rochdale — and out into Leeds, Sheffield and Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. Motorway services on the M6, M61, M62, M58 and M56 are all in patch too.
