Caravan & Trailer Towing Recovery - 24/7 Across the North West
Touring caravan with a blowout, a seized hub or a tow car that's given up — I recover caravans, trailers and car-and-caravan combinations on my recovery truck. 24/7 across the North West.
Caravan & Trailer Towing Across The North West
I'm Simon, and I've been pulling people out of trouble across the North West for years. A caravan breakdown is one of the more stressful ones — you've usually got the family in the car, a holiday on the line, and a great big van behind you that suddenly won't move.
Whether the tow car has broken down, the caravan's had a blowout, a hub bearing has seized or the running gear has packed up, I come out with my recovery truck and the kit to recover it properly. From a layby on the M6 heading to the Lakes, to a pitch on a holiday park near Blackpool — one call to 07549 676 220 and I'm on my way.
Touring Caravans, Twin-Axle Vans, Trailers & Combos
If it's got a tow hitch and it won't move, I can recover it. Here's what comes up most when people search for caravan towing near me:
- Touring caravan recovery — single-axle touring vans recovered on my recovery truck when the running gear, brakes or chassis can't be towed safely behind a car.
- Twin-axle caravan recovery — the bigger, heavier family vans. Give me the make and rough weight on the call so I bring the right truck and strapping.
- Car & caravan combination — tow car broken down with the van still hitched? I'll load the car and move the caravan, or take them in two safe trips.
- Caravan blowout & tyre failure — a burst tyre at speed can damage the body and the arch. I recover the van so a fresh tyre goes on somewhere safe.
- Trailer recovery — car transporter trailers, box trailers, plant trailers and utility trailers with seized hubs, broken axles or damaged couplings.
If your caravan tyre is the only problem and the van is somewhere safe, ask me about a tyre fix on the spot. If the van has to move, my recovery truck comes out.
What To Do If Your Caravan Breaks Down
A caravan failing while you're towing is unsettling — especially at motorway speed. Stay calm and work through this:
- Get off the carriageway. Ease onto the hard shoulder or into a layby. Don't brake hard with a van behind you — that's how a caravan snakes.
- Get everyone out and behind the barrier. On a motorway, leave the vehicle by the nearside door and stand well back up the verge — never between the car and the caravan.
- Call 999 and Highways if you're on a live lane or a smart motorway with no hard shoulder. Get the recovery rolling before anything else.
- Call me on 07549 676 220 — tell me where you are, what the tow car is, the length of the caravan and whether it's single or twin-axle. I'll give you an honest ETA.
Don't Try To Limp It Home
It's tempting to nurse a caravan with a damaged tyre or a noisy hub to the next services — don't. A failing wheel bearing can lock up, and a shredded tyre can rip into the bodywork and the brake lines. Stop somewhere safe and let me recover the van properly. It's cheaper than the damage a few more miles will do.

How Caravan Recovery Works
There's a right way to load a caravan onto a recovery truck, and it's not rushed. Four steps, done properly:
- Assess. I check the caravan, the tow car and the spot you're in — what's failed, what's safe to move and the best way to load.
- Make safe. Caravan unhitched if needed, the area coned, everyone clear. On a motorway that means behind the barrier first.
- Load & strap. The recovery truck bed tilts down, the van comes up level and gets strapped at the proper points — no straining the chassis or the body.
- Recover. I run the caravan, the trailer or the combination to your home, a repairer or a site of your choice. Steady and secure the whole way.
If only the tow car has failed and the caravan is fine, I can recover the car and get the van home behind it — whatever works for getting you sorted.
Caravans, Trailers & Combinations — All Recovered
I recover single-axle and twin-axle touring caravans, car transporter trailers, box trailers, plant trailers and full car-and-caravan combinations. Seized hubs, snapped axles, blown tyres, damaged couplings, a tow car that's died — I've dealt with the lot.
For the bigger twin-axle vans and anything heavy, give me a quick call first with the make, model and rough weight so I bring the right truck. For everything else, just ring and I'll be on the way.

Caravan Towing FAQs
The questions I get asked most when someone rings up with a caravan or trailer in trouble. If yours isn't here, just call me.
Yes — a car-and-caravan combination is one of the most common calls I get. I'll load the tow car onto my recovery truck and move the caravan too, or take them in two safe trips if the route or the weather makes that the better call. Tell me the make of car, the length of the van and whether it's single or twin-axle when you ring.
Yes. A caravan blowout is a nasty one — the van can snake and the tyre debris often damages the bodywork or the wheel arch. Don't try to limp it to the next services. Pull onto the hard shoulder, get everyone behind the barrier, and call me. I'll recover the caravan so a fresh tyre can go on somewhere safe.
Yes — touring caravans, twin-axle caravans and the bigger family vans. Twin-axle vans are heavier and longer, so it helps if you let me know the make, model and rough weight on the call. That way I bring the right truck and the right strapping, and there's no second trip.
Yes. I collect from caravan parks, holiday sites, storage compounds and driveways across the North West. If the van's failed on you mid-holiday in the Lakes or on the Fylde coast, or you need it moving off a pitch because the running gear has packed up, give me a call and I'll come and get it.
Both. As well as touring caravans I recover car transporter trailers, box trailers, plant trailers and general utility trailers. If a trailer has a seized hub, a broken axle or a damaged coupling and can't be towed safely, I'll load it onto my recovery truck and get it where it needs to be.
Give me a ring on 07549 676 220 and I'll quote you straight on the call. Price depends on the size and weight of the caravan, where you are, where it's going and the time of day. No membership, no call-out fee on top — one price, agreed up front.
The whole North West and into West Yorkshire — Wigan, Bolton, Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, St Helens, Preston, Blackpool, Chester, Stockport and Rochdale, plus Leeds, Sheffield and Huddersfield. I also work the touring routes: the M6 up to the Lakes, the M55 to the Fylde coast and the A55 towards North Wales.
